Schaefferstown Ambulance is seeking interested students for their Medical Explorer Post. The program is open to boys and girls who are in the eighth grade and between the ages of 14-20. This program is for you if you’re interested in the health care field and have an interest in learning more about EMT/Paramedic. We will provide you with a challenge while having fun. You will learn how to perform CPR, use an Automated External Defibrillator, and we will train you to perform patient care while riding on the ambulance with an EMS crew. There will be various speakers from different specialties and the Explorers will tour various facilities in the medical field. Our job is to educate the Explorers in the medical field according to their specialty of interest and to make sure they get every opportunity to visit, learn, and obtain as much hands-on experience as possible.
Our Meetings are held every second weekend of the month, Saturdays are from 12-3 and Sundays are from 1-4. We meet at the Schaefferstown Fire Co, Station 35, located at Oak & Locust Streets in Schaefferstown. If you have prior engagements like work, sports, or any other school activities, we work around schedules, please come out and visit us, you can see what we do and what we are all about. If you’re in the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, we encourage you to come out and talk to us; you can belong to both groups. If you would like more information or interested in joining contact Barbara Zimmerman at 717-821-3820 or by email at bzimmerman@sems160.com.
